Per Kirkeby: Wanås, 1994
Born 1938, Copenhaguen. Works in Copenhagen

Kirkeby's architectural pieces built of red brick might at first seem to be real houses but as you get closer you see that are rather something that could be perceived as unfinished buildings. In Wanås, the building have two walls and an opening between them that allow us to move through the space. No roof. The walls are interrupted by three indentations that could be perceived as windows, but they are not open to the outside. This is a very open space and still very closed.

The interaction consist in motionless positions trying to express the feeling of encasement. The sound of voices and birds gives you a feeling of freedom.
